I started working as a hotel housekeeper and noticed some guests keep their luggage in a bathtub.
When I asked one of the guests, she rudely told me not to move it, saying it’s there for a reason.
Why would anyone keep luggage in a bathtub?!
That’s weird.
Curiosity got the better of me.
Later that day, I asked one of the senior housekeepers if she’d ever seen that before.
She chuckled and said, “Oh honey, that’s a travel hack.
Some people are paranoid about bedbugs, especially in older hotels.
They think the bathtub is the safest place since bugs can’t climb the smooth surfaces.”
That made sense — kind of.
But the next morning, when I returned to clean the room, I noticed something strange.
The bathtub was empty.
But tucked behind the shower curtain, I found a small velvet pouch.
Thinking it might be jewelry or money, I debated whether to report it immediately.
Curiosity won again.
I opened it slowly…
Inside was a tiny camera.
And not just any camera — one disguised to look like a shampoo bottle.
My stomach dropped.
This wasn’t about avoiding bedbugs.
Someone had been filming.
And suddenly, I realized — that rude guest hadn’t been paranoid.
She’d been hiding something.
