Rosie O’Donnell is speaking her mind following her big move to Ireland.
The comedian, 63, briefly opened up about her decision to move out of the United States earlier this year while speaking at Malahide Castle for an event run by Ireland’s autism charity, As I Am, on Saturday, April 5, according to The Irish Times.
O’Donnell — who has openly criticized President Donald Trump’s policies — said she hasn’t once regretted her overseas move even after the White House’s April 2 tariff announcement that could potentially have a negative impact on Ireland’s economy, per the outlet.
“I’ve never had one moment where I have regretted moving here,” O’Donnell said. She did reportedly note that Trump’s tariff announcement is going to have a “horrible” impact, adding, “I think his policies are absurd.”
“So I haven’t regretted for one moment leaving the country with my child who is a special-needs child,” she added of her 12 year old, Clay, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of two.

While confirming her international move in a TikTok video on March 11, O’Donnell did not hold back as she explained how Trump’s presidency played a significant role in her decision.
“You know, I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country,” she said. “When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”
She continued her video by seemingly referencing changes made since Trump was inaugurated on Jan. 20: “It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally as well. The personal is political, as we all know.”

In another TikTok on Thursday, March 20, The View alum opened up about how she and Clay have been adjusting to their new home.
In the video, she expressed how “proud and impressed” she was of Clay’s resilience regarding the change. She added, “It’s not easy to move to another country, and we really felt as a family this was the safest and best thing for us to do.”
O’Donnell first hinted that she moved to Ireland in a series of Instagram posts on March 7. Alongside a selfie of her in a car, she wrote in the caption that she’d “bought a little used car to tool around the countryside on the wrong side of the road.”
After confirming her move, she revealed she was “in the process” of getting Irish citizenship as her grandparents are from Ireland.
