🧅 Why Use Purple Onion?

Purple onion contains sulfur compounds, quercetin, and natural acids with a strong, pungent aroma that naturally repels:

  • Flies
  • Mosquitoes
  • Ants
  • Cockroaches

These compounds disrupt insects’ sense of smell and drive them away from treated areas.

🧪 Ingredients:

Ingredient Purpose
3–4 purple onions (chopped or crushed) Main insect-repelling agent
2 cups water Base solvent
2 tablespoons white vinegar Enhances scent and acts as a preservative
10 drops eucalyptus or citronella essential oil (optional) Boosts insect-repelling effect

🥣 Instructions:

1. Make the Onion Base

  • Peel and chop or crush the purple onions.
  • Add them to a small pot with 2 cups of water.
  • Simmer gently for 10–15 minutes.
  • Let it cool completely.

2. Strain the Liquid

  • Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove all solids.
  • Reserve the infused onion water.

3. Mix the Spray

  • Pour the onion water into a clean spray bottle.
  • Add vinegar, optional essential oil, and alcohol.
  • Shake well before each use.

💨 How to Use:

  • Spray in corners, window frames, doorways, under sinks, near trash cans, and entry points where insects appear.
  • Spray on ant trails to disrupt scent paths.
  • Do not spray directly on food or skin.

⏳ Shelf Life:

  • Store in the refrigerator: 7–10 days
  • If alcohol is added: lasts up to 2–3 weeks at room temperature
