CNN reported that a 360-degree pendulum-shaped Ferris wheel (360 Big Pendulum) located in the amusement park at Green Mountain Resort broke in half while carrying passengers.
Video footage of the accident shows the passenger seat axle hitting the other end of the pendulum, causing it to collapse to the ground.
Earlier, passengers were seen screaming excitedly as the ride reached its highest point.
According to Al Arabiya TV channel , at least 23 passengers were injured, of which 3 were seriously injured and in critical condition.
Seat belts secured passengers to their seats. The injured were treated on the spot, and some were rushed to hospital.
The incident occurred on the evening of July 30 (local time) in the Al-Hada mountain resort, near the city of Taif, Saudi Arabia.
Al Hada is a very famous mountain resort in the western region of Saudi Arabia.
According to Arab press, the resort was ordered to close immediately and an investigation was launched into the cause of the Ferris wheel collapse.
