Austin Metcalf passed away at the age of 17 after being stabbed at a track and field event in Frisco, Texas
A 17-year-old Texas student named Austin Metcalf passed away after being stabbed and his ‘precious’ final post to Twitter has since come to light speaking about his ‘faith’.
On Wednesday (April 2) at around 10:00am, Frisco Police and Fire were called to an incident at a track meet in the 6900 block of Stadium Lane at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
Police report ‘an altercation between two students’ which ‘resulted in one stabbing the other’ and ‘despite lifesaving measures by police and fire personnel, including CPR and the administration of blood,’ 17-year-old Austin Metcalf – who was at the track and field event with his brother – passed away.
Loved ones have spoken out about the ‘senseless’ attack while also commemorating the teen with social media users quick to pay tribute too, some taking comfort in the teen’s last post to Twitter.
Austin’s final post was shared to Twitter on March 31 at around 11:46am.
It reads: “Faith that god got me and my work will pay off.”
A Twitter user wrote: “What a precious heart. He was taken from the world too soon. Although we may not understand the timing, I know God has him now.”
“Praying for Strength and Courage for the family and friends during this incredibly difficult time…” Another added.
A third commented: “May God be with you and watch over your family and friends right now.”
A GoFundMe has since been started by Austin’s dad, Jeff, in a bid to ‘help his family heal’.
The GoFundMe reads: “He was a bright young man with a great future ahead of him. He was a leader of men. His smile would light up the room. His passion for football was unbelievable. Voted team MVP this past season and carried a 4.0 GPA.
“He was looking forward to taking his game to the next level. His commitment, dedication, leadership, and sheer grit made him rise to the level of success that he desired. His twin brother, Hunter, played beside him.
“We will all remember him for the way he impacted others’ lives. I love you forever, son. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. God will take care of us till we meet again. RIP. Love, Dad.”
Firsco Independent School District said: “Frisco ISD shares in the grief of everyone impacted by this heartbreaking loss, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family, students, staff, and our community during this difficult time.”
Austin is reported as having been at a track and field event with his brother Hunter, who told WFAA an argument broke out when his brother allegedly asked another student to leave the school’s tent at the meet.
He told the outlet: “I tried to whip around as fast as I could, but I didn’t see the stab. It was really senseless. I don’t know why a person would do that to someone, just over that little argument.”
Frisco police said they have arrested and charged 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony.
The department stated: “The Frisco Police Department grieves with all those affected by this devastating loss and extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, students, and staff who are experiencing unimaginable pain.”
