An increasing amount of big names are turning to diabetes drug Ozempic to help them lose weight, so here are the A-listers who have tried it and have opened up on their thoughts on it.
Jeremy Clarkson was the latest name in a long line of celebs that have tried their hand at Ozempic.
The British TV presenter openly admitted in the past week that he tried the drug a couple of years back, but it didn’t exactly go to plan before he went off it.
While it is used by many big names for weight loss, it has not been FDA approved for this purpose and is only designed to treat type two diabetes.
So, here are some popular faces that have spoken openly about using Ozempic and its side effects.
James Corden
The Gavin and Stacey star spoke candidly on his podcast This Life of Mine with James Corden, revealing that Ozempic didn’t really work for him.
He said: “I tried Ozempic, and it won’t be surprising to you when you look at me now, that it didn’t really work
“I tried it for a bit and then what I realized was I was like, ‘Oh no, nothing about my eating has anything to do with being hungry.’ All this does is make you feel not hungry,” he admitted.
Jeremy Clarkson
Clarkson lifted the lid on all his health struggles in the past month, and shared that he has been leading a healthier lifestyle following his emergency heart surgery last October.
He said he was ‘days from death’, and explained all in his column for The Sunday Times.
Speaking about the time where he tried Ozempic in 2023, he said: “My body lost the ability to deal with gluttony but once the initial enthusiasm had worn off, my mind still wanted to breakfast on Cadbury Fruit & Nut.
“This meant I was sick a lot…
“After six months, having put on half a stone, I gave up,” Clarkson admitted.
However, the 64-year-old instead turned to Mounjaro, an injectable medicine that was also originally made to treat type 2 diabetes but has now been approved for weight loss management.
“Three months ago I started a course of the other one. Muntjac [Mounjaro], I think it’s called,” the TV personality admitted.
While he hasn’t lost any weight, he is pleased he doesn’t want to ‘eat my body weight in chocolate and beef’ anymore.
Amy Schumer
Previously admitting that she suffered side-effects from Ozempic that left her ‘bed-ridden’, Schumer covered every detail of her experience with the medicine.
Having tried it in 2022, the comedian said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: “I was one of the people that felt like sick, I couldn’t like play with my son.
“You’re like, ‘OK, this isn’t livable for me,’ but I immediately invested because I’m like, ‘Everyone and their mom is going to try it’,” she said about seeing results, but feeling off.
Similar to Clarkson, Schumer turned to Mounjaro in the end and said in an Instagram video last month that she had a ‘really good experience’ on the medication.
Sharon Osbourne
Sharon Osbourne revealed that she had previously taken Ozempic to help deal with her weight, but didn’t want to continue taking it in the fear of losing too much.
Speaking on Piers Morgan podcast, via E! news, she said: “I lost 42 pounds now and it’s just enough.”
“I didn’t actually want to go this thin, but it just happened and I’ll probably put it all on again soon,” the 72-year-old explained.
On top of that, she also experienced nausea, and ‘that feeling’ of throwing up without doing it physically.
“I was about two, three weeks where I felt nauseous the whole time. You get very thirsty and you don’t want to eat. That’s it,” she recalled.
