She introduced the project inspired by the joy of performing The Eras Tour (2023-2024).

The singer revealed the idea for the cover photo, which depicts her lying in water, symbolizing the end of the show.
Taylor Swift explained: “When I’m on tour, every day is the same. My days usually end in a bathtub, not always in a sparkly dress.”
Additionally, the artist said she wanted a behind-the-scenes moment as the main photo because the album “isn’t really about what she goes through on stage.”
Therefore, Swift didn’t choose an image standing under bright stage lights.
“To me, this choice better represents the content and lyrics of the work,” she added.
Regarding the number of songs, Taylor Swift confirmed that there will be no additional songs.
This decision is different from when she released her 11th album – The Tortured Poets Department – in April 2024.
At that time, the singer introduced many new songs after announcing the tracklist, increasing the total from 16 to 31.
In this comeback, she said that each song is suitable, no song can be removed or added.
“The focus and discipline in making a record and keeping the standards really high is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I write a lot, so I’m always tempted to release new music. But this time, I wanted to make an album that focused on quality, thematically, and let everything fit together like a perfect puzzle, with 12 songs for my 12th album.
