My grandpa passed away.
In his will, he left all his money (Millions) to my siblings. Everyone got some except me. I was broken, but the lawyer said, “Your grandfather loved you more than anyone,” and gave me an envelope!
Everyone laughed at me, and I started crying. I opened the envelope and saw everyone’s jaw on the floor! God, it was a single, handwritten note.
But not just any note — it was from Grandpa. And it said:
“For my dearest grandchild — the only one who ever visited without asking for anything.
Money fades. But legacy lasts. Go to the study. Look under the third floorboard, beneath the rug. That’s where your future begins.”
Everyone started snickering again.
“The study?” my oldest brother scoffed. “You got a scavenger hunt? We got beachfront property and trust funds.”
But I didn’t care. My hands were shaking as I drove to Grandpa’s house — now technically not mine. I used the spare key he gave me years ago, stepped into the study, and moved the rug.
Third floorboard.
It creaked differently. I pried it up and found a metal box — dusty, locked, and heavy.
Inside?
-
A folder labeled “Private: Holdings”
-
A flash drive
-
A small velvet pouch
The folder contained ownership deeds to four commercial buildings downtown — fully paid off. The flash drive held digital wallets filled with Bitcoin, purchased over a decade ago, now worth millions.
And the velvet pouch?
A vintage gold pocket watch with a note tucked inside:
“This belonged to my father. He built everything from nothing — just like I did. Now it’s your turn.”
Turns out, Grandpa knew exactly what he was doing.
He gave everyone else money… but he gave me the empire.
They laughed at the envelope.
Now they work in the buildings I own.
